FREESTANDING

I have noticed over the last several days that Jahan is beginning to stand freely for very short periods of time. The phenomenon is actually an intermediate process between releasing the piece of furniture he's holding and moving somewhere else. The amount of time for which he stands is clearly beginning to increase, even though it still does not exceed a few seconds at the moment. The period appears to last longer when he is pre-occupied with a toy that he is busy examining, so that he doesn't realise he's let go of his support.

The highlight of my morning today was when I found him (very briefly) standing up, waving his hands and dancing to "Wags the Dog". Now the challenge is to get my very slow camera to charge up its flash fast enough to capture the moment.

That's just so weird! Just today we noticed Jeyanth could balance himself for a second or two; over the past few days when he stands holding on to something he's looked really casual about it, as if he were just leaning against the furniture rather than actually using it to balance.

Yes, except (scarily) Jahan isn't leaning against anything - he's standing in the middle of the room!
