Well this was it - my first day at work after a year off. This morning was a bit traumatic - trying to be compos mentis enough to do my hair and makeup at 7am which isn't easy after one year of just looking organic! Add to that the challenge of getting Jahan ready for daycare - only to find he's poo'ed or decided he is ravenous and can't wait for his bottle despite the morning traffic! Also was a bit traumatized at the thought of leaving him in daycare for a whole day for the first time. Fingers crossed.
Workwise, it's so far so good. It's a small setup - only about 8 people in the office (which is IDEAL). Got thrown in the deep end when I got there and launched into doing Ethics submissions straight away. Ok, not the most exciting aspect of clinical research, but I couldn't deny the slight sensation of euphoria at being able to unshrivel my brain again.
At the end of the day, though, I was exhausted. Can't believe how singularly challenging it was to concentrate of one thing solid for more than about fifteen minutes at a time! Being a full time mum obviously required less in the way of concentration and more in the way of variety and versatility.
Off to have a nice long bath and (hopefully) coerce Duncan into giving me a massage...
