NO, NO, NO!

Jahan has a new habit. And as cute as it is, I'm not sure I'm thrilled about it.

Until recently, when Jahan reached for something he wasn't meant to (like the shoes on the shoe rack, or the cables on Daddy's stereo) a firm "No, no, no!" from Mummy was enough to make him refrain from proceeding. Over the last several weeks, therefore, many areas of the house have become taboo - the dining room, the stereo cabinet, the tv cabinet to name a few - and fearing the dreaded "No, no, no!", Jahan has generally stayed away from these areas of his own accord.

Today he must have discovered free will. This afternoon, while I was cooking, Jahan tentatively wondered out of the kitchen and into the TV room, all the time keeping one eye on me. I was amused so I let him go, then quietly followed him into the forbidden area. He had reached the TV cabinet, but instead of touching anything, he simply sat there waiting for me to arrive. Then upon seeing me, he beamed a cheeky grin and shouted "Na-na-na!"

I didn't know whether to reward him with a scolding or a cuddle (I opted for the latter and we both had a good laugh). So much for discipline - I obviously need to investigate further options!
