VERTICAL CONQUESTS

Jahan's latest additions to his vocabulary are the words "up" and "down". Thanks to his Grandma, Jahan is quite au fait with the concept of climbing up and (being helped) down the stairs. Whereas he has been able to veritably race up the stairs at a scary pace for a several weeks, this process is now accompanied by a chant of "up-pa, up-pa" on the way up, and "down" when he is ready to go down. Further, he seems to clearly understand the concepts of "up" and "down" outside the framework of the stairway. When he is being carried and wants to be put down, he will ask to be. "Down". He is less forthcoming with the word "up", but said it this afternoon when he wanted to get out of the bath.

And speaking of vertical conquests, Jahan can now take two steps from a freestanding position, but then loses his confidence and stops. These two steps are often one forward and then one back, but he has taken two steps forward after a long pause in between each one. And his confidence levels for simply standing freely are soaring, as can be seen when he helped his Grandpa with some building.
