BIRTHDAY DILEMMAS

Jahan will be one year old in two & a half weeks. I cannot believe what a whirlwind of a year this has been... but that's a story another time.

I am currently having dilemmas about what to do for Jahan's first birthday. I know it is very unlike me to have left it this late to plan anything, but the deck we wanted built before his party is only just being built. So our claustrophobic little home will soon be much better equipped for entertaining and I can put my organisational impulses to use.

I'd like a simple family affair. No screaming kids, no need for gourmet fare, no screaming kids, no extensive planning and preparation, no screaming kids. Problem is, we have been attending kiddy's birthday parties for various members of our Curry friends for years and I feel that by not reciprocating with a similar function, I'm copping out.
But what's the point of a big do? Jahan isn't going to understand what's happening - in fact he is still overwhelmed by crowds.

Aaargh! I need to make my mind up soon and get the invites out... decisions, decisions!

Fully sympathise. Have organised v.minor (ie 20ppl) BBQ for J's b'day, and had to spend an hour with my parents yesterday going over all the possible people who might be offended and coming up with rationale etc!!! Have decided on 'Must know Jeyanth well' as criteria for invites.

ps you do realise that avoiding screaming kids at a kids birthday party is somewhat living in a tomato :)
