Three things to report on this front.
First of all, I am very pleased and relieved to say that Jahan has finally demonstrated that he does indeed have the basic capacity to feed himself. He now picks up a plastic fork with a piece of banana on it and places it neatly in his mouth without mushing it, smearing it in his hair or hurling it across the room.
Secondly, Jahan has suddenly graduated to "grown-up food" (a transition I thought would be slower, but which has understandably been quite swift as "baby food" must now be bland and boring to him!) He has had Chinese food for lunch yesterday and string hoppers with potato curry and meat for dinner.
Which brings me to my third point. Remember that Chinese food? It was Satay Chicken. Yes - I stupidly forgot that satay sauce contained peanuts, so I am very very pleased to discover that Jahan does not appear to have a peanut allergy. Phew!
