@ 12WELVE MONTHS

Well, it seems appropriate to document J's developmental status at one year, so for those with nothing better to do here it is:

Jahan can walk confidently on any surface, and climb freely without assistance. He can jump with both feet off the ground when holding onto support, but cannot do so unaided.

Jahan is discovering the joy of "putting" but still needs considerable assistance to actually put objects in or onto a given recepticle. He has no concept of orientation and is still more interested in eating his blocks than stacking them.

Jahan is very slowly beginning to get the hang of feeding himself as long as the morsel in question can withstand being flailed around in the air for several seconds before being eaten. He is happy to be fed, and still will not hold his own bottle or cup. He has seven teeth.

These are some words that Jahan will say spontaneously and in context: Daddy, Gam-ma [Grandma], apple, come, out, ding ding [bell], up, down, arm, open, bow-wow, car-brrm, teddy and amen.
Here are some words he'll say when prompted but rarely initiates himself: eeeyuk, birdee, moo, baaa, quack-quack.
Here is a word which Jahan has no concept of: Mummy.

I have previously commented on how much Jahan can now comprehend. He actively responds to "let's go out", "bathing time", "go upstairs", "NO! Don't touch" etc. He also understands and responds to "show me ___" or "where is ___" eg "show me apple/ car/ Daddy etc"

Jahan likes playing games such as "Boo" (which involves Mummy hiding around the corner and jumping out saying "boo"), "Where's Jahan" (Peek-a-Boo) and "Chase and Catch".

Jahan is beginning to come out of his shell a little more. He is very happy at Day Care, and tends to cope much better in large groups than he used to. He is still very tentative at first with unfamiliar faces, but usually seems to adjust within a few minutes. There are exceptions - occasions where he refuses to be sociable, and there's nothing to be done about it. And there are people with whom he is fine on some days, and completely stroppy on others. It's still pot luck.

Just for the record; and not that I'm biased. But I think he's GORGEOUS and I wish I got to see him a little more.
