ONE YEAR ON

My little man is ONE year old today! I will shortly document how the day unfolded for us, but first, I just want to write a few words in reflection of the year gone.

Words cannot describe what a spinout this year has been. I have recorded most of the highs and lows in this journal (for which, by the way, I am very grateful to the likes of Sureka and Corina who convinced me to document my thoughts).

I cannot even imagine what life would be like without Jahan. It's funny - there are those young, kid-free types (like me two years ago) who would label the onset of parenthood as dull, cumbersome, prosaic. On the contrary. Becoming a parent affords heights of contentment like nothing else in existence. And it affords heartbreaking challenges which make a major business crisis seem inconsequential.

And it changes you. It changes your priorities, your attitudes, the very essence which drives you. It changes you spiritually. You begin to comprehend God's love like you've never understood it before.

I reflect on the highs and lows of parenthood often. (Yes, there are disadvantages - I would pay good money for a good night's sleep:). However, today just seems to be a good day to stop, take stock, and give thanks for an awesome year!
