Jahan is now asleep, and while his father and I recover from an emotionally and physically exhausting day, I thought I'd write about Jahan's 12 month checkup visit to the Baby Clinic yesterday.
Stats: he's 9.6 kg (25%), 76 cm (50%). He's growing well, eating well, developing well, doing all the things he should be doing at this age. Kerry (the clinic nurse) says it's ok that he doesn't want to hold his own bottle - apparently he "just wants a cuddle". I explained that he isn't good at feeding himself or eating finger food either, and was advised that my obsession with cleanliness was contraindicated to successful feeding training. :)
"Let him squash the sandwich into his hair - at least some of it will go in his mouth!"
Kerry also said it was fine to continue 2-3 bottles or cups of milk a day for another year, as long as he's eating well, which he is. He can now eat egg and honey, but I should still be wary of nuts. Kerry also nearly fell off her chair when Jahan put on his best performance for her by saying "Baby up there", "birdie out" and "Cooking! Yay!" within a space of a minute. Apparently he has the vocabulary of a 2 year old.
And I was advised to expect many more bruises on the forehead in months to come. **Sigh**
