On Friday 24th September, Duncan and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, and Sunday 26th Sept was my birthday. As a "gift" to us, my mother kindly agreed to look after Jahan for the weekend so that Duncan and I could have some time to ourselves. We decided to go away somewhere (reluctantly at first, but gratefully later) and ended up in the Southern Highlands. And what a wonderful weekend it was.
We stayed at Peppers Manor House in Moss Vale (see pics of our weekend) which was a beautiful old house with lovely huge grounds and a golf course. We slept in, went wine tasting, shopped at local craft and antique shops, dined at great restaurants, did some walking around Fitzroy Falls and Berrima, and spent some relaxing, uninterrupted, quality time together.
Leaving Jahan behind for the weekend was challenging (not least for my Mum who had to look after him). I guess I didn't feel much guilt because my mother happens to be Jahan's favourite person in the universe, so for him it was a bonus. But boy did we miss him. We found ourselves making conscious "lets-not-talk-about you-know-who" pacts to survive the weekend.
But survive it we did - with relish.
