Last night we had our third stint at the ER when ventolin failed to restore Jahan's oxygen levels to normal. (There really is nothing scarier than a toddler who is flopped over in a pile on the floor because he can't get enough oxygen in his lungs to even give him the strength to sit up. An image that will probably never leave a parent's mind even when their child is perfectly well again). We returned home well after midnight (after 6 hours at the ER) and have safely managed to control Jahan's asthma with ventolin since.
And of course today of all days, Jahan decided he would finally refuse to let me feed him. Jahan, who in his 19 months on this planet, has never shown any desire to feed himself, suddenly decided today that he wouldn't even let me so much as hold his bowl. The added complication today, however, was that he has been off his food for the last couple of days due to his illness. So "feeding himself" essentially entailed squelching, stirring and hurling vast quantities of porridge, bolognese and jelly all over his clothes, hair and kitchen. Cleaning up after him was like cleaning up after a tidal wave.
